ZF and Aidrivers start strategic cooperation for port logistics autonomous solutions

ZF Mobility Solutions and Aidrivers will work together on a new autonomous solution for port logistics operations

ZF Mobility Solutions has announced the beginning of a new strategic cooperation with Aidrivers that will see the pair offer autonomous mobility solutions in port logistics.

Around the world, port vehicles have largely been manually operated, with ZF and Aidrivers now both capitalising on the gradual move to autonomous operations.

AI-enabled autonomous mobility company Aidrivers will focus on the supply of an autonomous driving software ecosystem, while ZF will be the engineering partner for the integration, validation and deployment.

The converted vehicles will be able to be used in mixed traffic operations without special lanes for on-yard logistics solutions, giving port operators the benefit of enhanced terminal safety and efficiency using modern advanced autonomous technologies.

“Based on our long-term expertise in autonomous driving systems, we are delighted to now also operate successfully in the market as a mobility solutions provider,” ZF Mobility Solutions head Alexander Makowski says.

“In addition, we will leverage ZF Group’s entire expertise in vehicle technology, for example in the electrification of the drivetrain and vehicle motion control. Together with our global aftermarket organisation, we will provide state-of-the-art customer service directly on site.”

Aidrivers CEO Dr Rafiq Swash says the company is excited to work with ZF.
