The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport of Australia (CILTA) will present a third session of the highly successful mentoring program, Women Moving Forward. Register by June 3.

Under contract from the Australian Logistics Council (ALC), the series has become the largest, most effective mentoring program for women in the Transport & Logistics (T&L)
industry.

The previous two sessions have involved more than 130 women from over 100 companies and government agencies across Australia.

CILTA Professional Development & Events Manager Megan Hobson says the program has evolved and improved over the past two sessions.

“We’ve learned what works and what doesn’t from the participants and implemented new services and assistance along the way,” Hobson says.

Offered with the financial support of the Australian Federal Government under the Nation Building Program, Women Moving Forward incorporates a high quality, self-paced and cost effective mentoring program, targeting the retention and development of women.

It identifies what women want in their personal and professional lives and helps get them there. It is open for all women in Transport & Logistics, undertaking any role, in any region, in any T&L company.

“The first 70 participants to register for the next session will receive the Government subsidy of $200,” Hobson says.

“For non-CILTA members this reduces the price to $595, while CILTA members get in for $535.50 all inclusive of GST, of course!”

According to Hobson, the program has support from industry and government bodies alike.

Some of these include the Queensland Department of Transport & Main Roads, Queensland Office for Women and NSW Roads & Traffic Authority, ANL Container Line and DP World.

“The flexibility of the Program allows participants from far and wide to be involved, rural, regional, remote they can pick up any phone and dial into the teleconference,” Hobson says.

Northern Territory former participant Annarie says she feels “invigorated and charged after every teleconference”.

“This program was incredibly valuable to me and will continue to be in the future,” she says.

Another recent participant from Queensland, Kirsty Togo of Coles says describes WMF program as “a great experience”.

“The program has helped me understand myself so much and shown me how and what steps I need to take, to take control of my life and develop myself into the person I know I can be,”
Togo says.

Guest speakers from previous sessions include the Department of Defence’s Air Vice-Marshal Margaret Staib, Former Senator and Leader of the Democrats Natasha Stott-Despoja, Billabong’s Diane Ricardo, Linfox’s Tania Whyte and Victoria University’s Dr Hermione Parsons .

Registrations for the June 23rd program close COB, 3 June 2011.
