The Dampier Cargo Wharf Projects have reached a major milestone, with Pilbara Ports awarding the stage two contract for the Dampier Link Bridge to NRW Pty Ltd and Brady Marine and Civil Pty Ltd, operating as the NBJV.
Under the contract, the joint venture will design and construct a new 57-metre link bridge connecting the existing Dampier Cargo Wharf with the Dampier Bulk Handling Facility, creating a seamless connection between the two facilities.
The scope of works also includes demolition and removal of the existing Southern Mooring Dolphin, piling works and construction of a reinforced concrete deck to support the new structure.
Once complete, the link bridge will strengthen direct shipping services in the Pilbara by improving connectivity between bulk handling and cargo operations at the Port of Dampier.
Construction of the Dampier Bulk Handling Facility is already well advanced, with demolition works, dredging, drilling and blasting completed and wharf construction currently underway. The facility is on track for completion in the first half of this year, with the link bridge expected to be fully operational by late 2026.
The broader Dampier Cargo Wharf Projects will significantly expand marine infrastructure and operational capability at the port, supporting a multi-user facility that improves service capacity for existing and emerging industries.
Federal Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Minister Catherine King said the investment would strengthen Australia’s export competitiveness.
“The Albanese and Cook Labor Governments are partnering with industry to deliver infrastructure that supports regional growth and bolsters our nation’s export competitiveness,” King said.
“Enhancing the Port of Dampier is about future-proofing one of Australia’s most important export gateways.”
WA Ports and Regional Development Minister Stephen Dawson said the works underscored the Cook Government’s focus on port infrastructure in the Pilbara.
“These works will provide critical advancement in enhancing the region’s direct shipping capabilities,” Dawson said.
“Our dedication to infrastructure expansion will foster economic growth and support regional communities and emerging industries in the Pilbara.”
The Australian Government has committed $565 million towards common user port infrastructure upgrades across the Pilbara, including $115 million for the Port of Dampier.
