Claiming the title of Australia’s biggest truck dealership, Westar Truck Centre officially opened its doors on July 23 with Isuzu CEO Yuki Murata and Western Star Australia Managing Director Paul Glavac on hand to declare the business open.

The Westar Truck Centre at Derrimut in Victoria is part of the Paterson-Cheney group and will offer Western Star and MAN products as well as Isuzu trucks.

With a total area of 38,000sqm, the new centre has 42 service bays fitted with the latest diagnostic and service equipment including a live in-ground electronic brake tester and electric truck lifting equipment.

There is also a 1450sqm parts warehouse containing everything from everyday items like filters and brake pads to full engine rebuild kits.

The facility is also constructed in compliance with the Federal Government’s energy efficient buildings rating and uses energy and water savings devices such as motion sensor lighting and rain water tanks.

“This new dealership sets a new benchmark for truck facilities around the country and is amongst the best I have seen anywhere,” Murata says.

The Westar dealer principal, Terry Jewson, says the sales and service facility in Australia also offers customers new levels of convenience and service.

He says the dealership includes motel-style rooms for drivers.

“The rooms feature a comfortable bed and separate ensuite with toilet, shower and wash basin so drivers can clean up and rest whilst we work on their truck,” Jewson says.
