Mannway assets are being flogged off in a fire sale by auction firm GraysOnline, with prices starting at $9 for trucks and trailers.
The six-day unreserved auction on $3 million worth of equipment ends today as part of a nationwide effort to get rid of the remaining stock of Mannway, which went under last year.
The auction follows a fixed price sale GraysOnline held in February and includes 20 prime moves, eight rigid trucks and more than 90 trailers across NSW, Victoria and Queensland.
“It’s the first time buyers can bid on such a huge collection of Mannway trucks and trailers – just name your price,” GraysOnline CEO Cameron Poolman says.
A 1994 model Scania from the Mannway fleet was originally listed at $9, but bidding has pushed the price to $13,009.
A 2004 DAF prime mover was also listed at the same price, but the figure has now risen to $34,009.
Trailers such as a B-double tri-axle drop deck also began at $9. The asking price for the trailer is now $48,009.
The bidding for a 2006 model Freighter tri-axle trailer began at $9, with the price now $12,209.
The auction was held on behalf of Ferrier Hodgson, which was appointed receivers of Mannway in October last year.
Mannway failed on the back of a massive debt burden and the loss of key contracts. More than 300 employees lost their jobs, while many are owed entitlements such as superannuation.
An investigation is currently underway to determine if Mannway CEO Stuart Brown traded while the company was insolvent.
Mannway shut its doors on December 18 last year after receivers could not strike a deal with potential buyers to save it.
