Wales Heavy Vehicle Repair, a division of AMA Group, has expanded its national footprint with the acquisition and rebranding of Bodyline Smash Repairs in Darwin.
Now operating as Wales Darwin, the move strengthens the group’s support for national fleets, insurers, and owner-drivers across one of Australia’s most vital freight corridors.
The new site brings Wales’ total national locations to nine, including major transport hubs in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Newcastle, Townsville, the Mid North Coast, and now Darwin.
“Darwin is an essential link in Australia’s freight and logistics chain,” Wales Heavy Vehicle Repair general manager Martin Dickinson says.
“Bringing Bodyline into the Wales network means our customers – whether they’re managing national fleets, overseeing insurance claims, or running as independent operators – can access the same level of quality, turnaround and service they’ve come to expect from us across the country.”
Formerly known as Bodyline Smash Repairs, the Darwin site has built a strong local reputation for quality workmanship, deep industry knowledge, and trusted customer relationships within the Northern Territory’s heavy transport sector.
Dickinson says the site’s team, culture, and technical expertise align seamlessly with Wales’ specialist repair model.
“Their addition strengthens our presence in the north and ensures continued delivery of trusted, local expertise — now backed by national scale,” he says.
The acquisition comes amid growing freight, mining, defence, and long-haul transport activity in Northern Australia, increasing the demand for skilled heavy vehicle repair capabilities in the region.
Wales Darwin will continue to support accident repairs for trucks, trailers, and buses, with plans to expand its service offering over time.
The site will also benefit from Wales’ national supplier partnerships, triage systems, and customer support tools designed to reduce vehicle downtime and increase repair efficiency.
“This is about giving our customers the confidence that no matter where an incident occurs, they have a trusted partner nearby,” Dickinson says.
“We’re focused on expanding in the right locations—ones that make sense for the transport industry.”
