The Victorian Transport Association is celebrating the election of a new President and Vice President from its recent annual general meeting, with the Executive Council electing former Vice President Dennis Ryan into the lead role.

Ryan will replace outgoing President Mike Lean, who has been praised by the organisation for his leadership in the sector over his five years at the helm.

The newly elected Ryan has previously served on the VTA’s Executive Council and on a range of committees over his 50 years in the transport sector, with the third-generation family-owned and operated Ryan’s of Leongatha a well-respected and established transport company in the Victorian and national freight and logistics landscape.

Cameron Murphy has been re-elected to the role of Vice President for a further term and is currently CEO of Murphy Transport Solutions.

VTA CEO Peter Anderson thanked Lean for his services to the organisation.

“I’d like to thank Mike on behalf of the Council, Secretariat, and broader VTA membership for his generous commitment of time and energy throughout his presidency, and for inspiring lasting strategic change that has set the Association up well for many years of success,” Anderson says.

“Mike delivered his fifth President’s Report where he emphasised the Association is in great shape financially, operationally and reputationally.

“Mike cited training, industry support through the pandemic, industry pivots towards decarbonisation, state and federal stakeholder engagement and regulatory reforms as key highlights over his presidency.

“He also reflected on the importance of renewal, challenging all of us to inspire younger generations and future leaders to get involved.”

TFMXpress Managing Director Frank Ainalis was also elected to the Executive Council as part of the vote.
