VTA gains new executive appointment

The new appointee comes from a decorated career in the Victorian police force and Australian transport industry

The Victorian Trucking Association (VTA) has welcomed Doug Fryer as its newest Executive Councillor. The association says Fryer brings an extensive range of experience in transport, governance, and policy development to the role.

Fryer has held a variety of roles with the Victoria Police over 30 years, working within Victoria Police drug task force, as Crime Commander, and Assistant Commissioner, Road Policing Command. Fryer was also awarded the Australian Police Medal, the National Police Service Medal, and the Victorian Police Service Medal for his contributions to the force and the community.

The VTA says these accolades and the key leadership roles Fryer has held exemplify his highly successful and decorated career within the police force.

Following his successful career with Victoria Police, Fryer was appointed as President Government & Defence for Linfox, and in March he was appointed President of Corporate Services.

Fryer’s role at Linfox has seen him lead the government and Defence teams through periods of great complexity, including the Covid response, severe floods, and bushfires.

Fryer is held in extremely high regard within the policing and transport community and as an Association the VTA says it is fortunate to have him join its Executive Council to inform its deliberations and strategic thinking.
