VTA confirms high profile speakers for summit

The VTA has announced its line-up of speakers for the inaugural Alternative Fuels Summit

The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) has announced its list of speakers as part of its line-up for the Alternative Fuels Summit on Tuesday August 23.

The VTA created the inaugural Summit in partnership with industry leaders Viva Energy Australia and CMV Truck and Bus to recognise the need for the transport industry to evolve and shift towards a greener future through reducing emissions.

“This exciting new initiative will bring together key stakeholders from the transport and logistics industry, government, regulators and researchers to explore how our industry can embrace alternative fuels while also meeting the growing freight needs of the nation,” VTA CEO Peter Anderson says.

“The transition to alternative fuels in the transport industry is quickly gathering pace and with the new federal government setting more ambitious emissions reduction targets, it is essential operators understand their future in the heavy vehicle category.”

At the event, Victorian energy and environment minister Lily D’Ambrosio will headline the speakers in updating attendees on Victoria’s strategies for supporting the zero-emissions transition.

D’Ambrosio will be joined by Freight Victoria CEO Praveen Reddy, as well as a trio of representatives from Viva Energy Australia to discuss the company’s role in the transition.

“Co-event sponsor Viva Energy Australia has announced several significant investments in alternative fuels, and we are thrilled to welcome Chief Business Development & Sustainability Officer Lachlan Phiffer, Future Fuels Manager Sandra Lau, and Carbon Solutions Manager Rob Cavicchiolo to talk about how Viva is tackling the transition to alternative fuels, and its Geelong Hydrogen Station,” Anderson says.

“Vehicle servicing and fuel infrastructure is also critical part of the Alternative Fuels transition, so we are delighted to have VACC CEO Geoff Gwilym address the Summit on steps his organisation is taking to ensure continuity of resources throughout the fuel network during the transition.”

Other speakers from event co-sponsor CMV Truck and Bus, Volvo Group, Daimler Truck, Hyzon Motors and SEA Electric will also provide updates on heavy vehicle equipment and technology being rolled out that embraces alternative fuels.
