The event will feature a panel discussion by notable transport industry experts
Many industry professionals are expected to come together for this year’s Victorian Transport Association’s Women’s Lunch to be held on March 18 in the Leopard Lodge at the Melbourne Zoo.
“It’s no secret that women are significantly under-represented in our industry, and while it is encouraging that some large and small operators are taking steps to redress this imbalance, more needs to be done,” VTA CEO Peter Anderson says.
“The VTA for its part looks forward to encouraging members and the industry as a whole to identify where changes can be made to attract women to our industry.”
This year’s event, entitled ‘Roar! Empowering Success and Change’, will feature a number of prominent speakers and panellists, and a keynote speech by Minister for Local Government, Industrial Relations and Aboriginal Affairs Natalie Hutchins.
“We are absolutely thrilled that a minister as talented and as capable and as experienced as Natalie Hutchins has agreed to attend and address our Annual Women’s Lunch,” Anderson says.
“VTA members and their guests will certainly benefit from hearing some of the challenges Ms Hutchins has overcome on her way to becoming one of the most senior and effective ministers in the Victorian Government.
“With such a large and diverse portfolio, decisions made by the minister have consequences for all Victorians, and it will be fascinating to hear her story and how she has risen to where she is today, along with an update on critical elements of her portfolio responsibilities,” Anderson says.
The event will also feature a panel discussion to be led by notable transport industry academic Dr Hermione Parsons.
Also on the panel are Victoria Police Superintendent Debra Robertson APM and DP World MD Paul Scurrah, who will reflect on how workplaces must change to better attract and retain women.
