Volvo's dual trade apprentice handed trophy, certificate, iPad and $2,000 worth of tools after winning Apprentice of the Year Award

A dual trade apprentice from Volvo Commercial Vehicles in Brisbane has taken home a bevy of prizes after being named the Commercial Vehicle Industry Association of Queensland’s (CVIAQ) Apprentice of the Year.
Sam Savva (pictured, centre), who has completed a Certificate III in Automotive Technology and is in the latter stages of completing a Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology, received a trophy, framed certificate, an Apple iPad and tools to the value of $2,000 for winning the award at the 2013 CVIAQ Awards Night.
The CVIAQ Apprentice of the Year Award is an annual award open to apprentices in the final stages of their training from the heavy vehicle repair, service and manufacturing sectors. The award is now in its 32nd year and is held in high regard by industry.
Volvo Commercial Vehicles Brisbane Dealer Principal Iain Allison accepted the CVIAQ Apprentice of the Year perpetual trophy from Paul Armstrong, who won the award in 2012.
The perpetual trophy was introduced in 2011 for the employer to display in their office reception or foyer for the 12 months between awards.
Byron Aylott from MTU Detroit Diesel won the High Achievement Award, while Chris Huet from Scania and Matthew Hayes from Brisbane each received a Certificate of Recognition.
A Certificate of Merit went to three individuals: Michael Reiner from the Brown and Hurley Group, Harry Bryant from Brisbane Isuzu and Justin McCormack from Peak Engineering Transport Services.
