Volvo to unveil goods at Brisbane Truck Show

Volvo to use Brisbane Truck Show to showcase its wares, including the powerful FH16 700 prime mover

April 20, 2011

Truck manufacturer Volvo is planning to use this year’s Brisbane Truck Show to showcase its wares, including the powerful FH16 700 prime mover.

Volvo General Manager Gary Bone says the company’s stand will feature the truck, which produces 700hp and 3150Nm of torque.

Bone says Volvo will also display its roll-over simulator to give visitors the opportunity to experience firsthand the effect of a roll-over.

The simulator cabin rolls to the left and right and is fitted with all accessories so visitors can grasp the effect of tilting the cab through 90 degrees.

Bone says the simulator demonstrates the importance of seatbelts in saving lives.

“The seatbelt is the single most effective system for reducing the risk of injuries and fatalities,” he says.

“In some 50 percent of accidents in which the truck driver sustains injury, a roll-over sequence is involved. And in at least 60 percent of accidents the use of a seatbelt would have reduced the injury sustained by the truck driver.”
