Volvo recalls popular UD Truck model

More than 1,100 UD vehicles are affected by the Volvo recall

Volvo Trucks Australia has issued a recall for the UD Trucks Quon model due to a driveshaft universal joint play defect.

More than 1,100 units are affected by the recall, with the UD Trucks Quon model ranging from 2017 to 2021 being part of the recall.

Due to a manufacturing defect, Volvo says the driveshaft universal joint play may exceed the manufacturer’s tolerance.

If the vehicle continues to operate under these conditions, Volvo says grease may leak and debris may intrude into the universal joint bearing cups, which would cause the joint to break and the vehicle to become suddenly inoperable.

If this occurs, the recall says it can increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury to vehicle occupants and other road users.

Volvo Trucks Australia says owners of affected vehicles can contact their nearest authorised Volvo Group Australia dealer to have the work carried out free of charge.
