Volvo strikes Western Truck Group partnership

Toowoomba’s strategic location plays major part in move

Volvo Group Australia (VGA) has appointed Western Truck Group as its parts and services dealer in the Queensland transport hub of Toowoomba.

VGA president and CEO Peter Voorhoeve welcomes a partnership with the Western Truck Group and the strengthened presence it brings to Volvo’s extensive regional network.

“Our mantra is service, service, service,” Voorhoeve says.

“This appointment will see Western Truck Group join us in providing the exceptional service that Volvo Group Australia customers know they can always expect.

“Toowoomba’s strategic location as a transport gateway to the north, south and west means the Western Truck Group team will become another strong link in an Australia-wide chain of industry-leading parts and services dealerships for Volvo Group Australia.”

The appointment follows the Queensland Truck Centre’s sale of the dealership to Craig Black Group, owner of Western Truck Group and a family business that has been operating in regional Queensland for more than 30 years.

VGA vice-president of retail Tom Conlon thanks the team at Queensland Truck Centre for 20 years of business partnership and dedicated service.

“I would like to thank the team at Queensland Truck Centre for their years of great service and dedication, and wish them every success with their future operations,” Conlon says.

Craig Black Group MD Craig Black says the businesses have always focused on the customer, and the group is excited to partner with VGA.

“We will be investing heavily into significant additional parts stock and operational personnel at all locations, and we have some very experienced truck industry staff joining the business,” Black says.

WTG’s flagship Toowoomba dealership will be extended in the coming months to incorporate a Modification Centre allowing additional capacity for truck build-up and repair work.

Craig Black Group will take over operations in Toowoomba, Mount Isa and Warana on the Sunshine Coast at the locations previously occupied by Queensland Truck Centre.
