Mulder remains with roads but state gets new ports minister and transport parliamentary secretary
March 13, 2013
Freight-related portfolios were given something of a shake in Victorian Premier Denis Napthine’s ministerial reshuffle today.
Former cabinet secretary and government whip David Hodgett is now Ports, Major Projects and Manufacturing Minister, taking over ports and major projects from Napthine and manufacturing from Richard Della-Riva.
Gary Blackwood is the Parliamentary Secretary for Transport after taking over that responsibility from Edward O’Donohue. Blackwood was previously parliamentary secretary for forests and fisheries.
Terry Mulder remains in charge of roads and public transport
Hodgett had been shadow cabinet secretary before the last election and has been in the thick of negotiations with rebel Liberal MP Geoff Shaw, whose resignation from the party immediately preceded the resignation of Ted Baillieu as as the premier.
Blackwood had reportedly been an active reformer in forestry matters, having worked in that industry in the past.
Hansard shows the parliamentary efforts of both men on transport matters directed more to social rather than industry concerns.
Meanwhile in Western Australia, newly returned Premier Colin Barnett has said he will hold off naming his new Cabinet until after the final votes are counted, which is expected to occur tomorrow.
