The Victorian Government has short-listed three construction companies to build East West Link.

East West Connect, Inner Link Group and Momentum Infrastructure are in the running for one of the State’s top projects.

Premier Denis Napthine says the Government has assembled the global might of the world’s leading tunnelling and construction firms.

“We expected to get the best of the best bidding for East West Link but the strength of the bidding teams has surpassed our highest expectations,” Napthine says.

Treasurer Michael O’Brien says all short-listed bidders have strong financial credentials that would take the project toward a construction phase next year.

“It is exciting to see such a positive field of international and Australian bidders,” O’Brien says.

“I have no doubt this competition with three shortlisted bidders will drive value for money for Victorian taxpayers.”

A request for proposal to the shortlisted bidders will be finalised in October, with a contract awarded in late 2014.

The project is due to be completed in 2019-20.
