Mitsubishi Triton lands more gear for 2017
The 2017 Mitsubishi Triton.

The Mitsubishi Triton has polarised many with its styling.

However, keen pricing has seen the Mitzi stay well represented on the Aussie LCV market.

According to the latest VFACTS report for November, the Triton is currently sitting at number five on the 4x4 ute market just behind the newly refreshed Holden Colorado. Toyota HiLux is still clinging to first place just in front of the Ford Ranger, with the Nissan Navara holding on to third place for November.

Now Mitsubishi is pushing the value proposition of the 2017 Triton by adding some more kit to the ute range as well as bringing a couple of styling tweaks to the mid-range and top-of-the-tree models.

A reverse camera is now standard across the range on models equipped with a pick up body. All Triton models also now get speed sensing door locks and crash detection door unlocking, while dual cab and club cab variants also get a storage pocket on the back of the driver’s seat.

A new GLX club cab chassis with auto has been added to the range while elsewhere the GLX gets a rear step bumper and a 6.1 inch colour touchscreen media unit. 4x4 GLX models also get 245/70R16 tyres as standard fit.

Triton GLX+ models get auto air con, black instrument panel trim and shiny interior door handles on top of the other GLX improvements.

At the plusher end of the range the Triton GLS gets Smartphone link Display Audio which also features 2 USB ports and a HDMI connection.

Spiffier instrument panel graphics lift the dashboard appearance as well as a 4-spoke leather steering wheel.

Outside a dark chrome look tones down the rather shiny smile of the Mitzi and new side step are now standard for the GLS.

The range topping Exceed gets all of the above as well as heated front seats and an electro chromatic rear view mirror.

Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited executive director of marketing Tony Principe says, "With All-Terrain tyres, reversing camera and rear step bumper now available on GLX 4x4 manual at $37,000 recommended retail, the 2017 Triton range continues to offer compelling value for savvy light commercial buyers."

"We’ve upgraded every model in the 2017 range to enhance Triton’s appeal with smartphone connectivity on GLS and Exceed, upgraded audio on GLX and auto air-conditioning on our value-leading GLX+."

The Mitsubishi Triton range is priced from $22,300 rrp (GLX 4x2 single cab petrol) to $48,000 rrp for the Exceed 4x4 dual cab.

All Mitsubishi vehicles are backed by a 5-year/100,000km warranty.
