New communication range covers AM and UHF frequencies
Equipment supplier Uniden has launched two new CB mobile radios for long-distance transport applications, the UH5050 and the PRO5050 AM.
Priced at $299.95, Uniden says the communication tools fit within standard DIN slots and are built rugged for local conditions.
The first model in the new range, the five-watt UH5050 CB mobile radio, features 80 channels and the ability to connect to 60 programmable RX channels for storing favourite frequencies between 400-520mHz.
According to Uniden, unwanted conversations are blocked by the “continuous tone coded squelch system and digital coded squelch”; a front-mounted speaker provides clarity and volume; and a built-in automatic volume stabiliser (AVS) detects narrowband and wideband transmissions.
A range extender allows the UH5050 to “operate using a local repeater station to retransmit signals over a wider area” and the dual watch operation means drivers can monitor two channels simultaneously.
For busy drivers, the channel lock-out feature blocks all activity on the channel.
Those who operate on the AM frequency would look to the four-watt PRO5050AM CN mobile radio, which has access to 40 channels, an auto noise limiter, and a noise blanker.
While they operate on different frequencies, the two models both feature a LCD screen and button layout, backlit by two colour options; a call tone function, which allows drivers to choose a wake-up tone; and a signal strength and RF power (S/RF) meter.
They also include instant channel programming and recall, which allows a driver to recall a priority channel via the microphone.
The Uniden range of UHF antennas and mounting brackets has also been updated.
