UD Trucks tech challenge sees strong Australian participation

Aussie UD teams are vying for the top prize in the company’s global Gemba skills competition

UD Trucks’ Gemba Challenge is underway to find the top UD Trucks technicians worldwide.

Gemba loosely translates to “the place where value is created”. UD says it reflects the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to create a strong dependable ownership experience and is the cornerstone on which the UD brand is built.

The Gemba Challenge pits service and aftermarket teams against technical challenges in the workshop. The competition culminates in a global final where aftermarkets teams from around the globe face off over workshop tasks.

Australia is fielding 46 teams in this year’s competition with a total of 164 competitors. The second round is currently underway, closing on August 2. The teams are vying for a place in the global final, to be held in Ageo, Japan.

“The fantastic engagement we’ve seen from our aftermarket teams during this competition so far really reflects the enthusiasm and commitment of our colleagues across the dealer network,” says Richard Singer, vice president services and retail development, Volvo Group Australia.

“Knowing that our dealerships are staffed by some of the most professional and capable staff in the industry undoubtedly gives peace of mind to our customers.

“I look forward to seeing one of our dedicated teams bringing home a win at the global final and I congratulate them on their progress to date.”
