The Livestock and Rural Transporters Association of Queensland (LRTAQ) has revealed it has met with Queensland’s transport ministers to discuss the existing type two road train restrictions across the state.
The LRTAQ has labelled the restrictions placed on the movement of type two road train as “inefficient and disruptive”. Its representatives raised the issue with Queensland Transport and Main Roads Minister Brent Mickelberg and MP for Gregory Sean Dillon.
“Currently, drivers must break down their road trains, causing delays of up to three hours and disrupting local communities,” the LRTAQ says of the restrictions.
“But there’s hope! The government is listening, and positive discussions are underway to improve access to the Emerald saleyards.
“These changes aim to enhance safety, efficiency and reduce unnecessary delays for truck drivers.
“We’re optimistic that a solution is on the way.”
Sean Dillon has outlined the improvement of roads in Western Queensland as a key pillar for his electorate.
Dillon’s family operates a cattle station in Alpha.
