Trucking industry told to expect delays during G20

Heavy vehicles warned to avoid Brisbane CBD during the G20 Summit next month.

Heavy vehicles are being urged to steer clear of the Brisbane CBD and the nearby Southbank precinct during next month’s G20 Summit.

Roads will be closed progressively from the morning of November 10, through until the meeting of world leaders is concluded a week later.

“Roads will be reopened as quickly as possible once the Leaders’ Summit concludes on November 16. However it may take several hours to reopen roads, reinstate signage and remove barriers,” Queensland Police says.

Heavy vehicle operators have been advised that layover areas in the CBD and South Brisbane will not be available throughout the week.

Drivers will be best placed to use layover facilities outside the affected areas.

“Consider Kangaroo Point, Fortitude Valley, New Farm and other surrounding suburbs for potential layover locations,” Queensland Police suggests.

For those trucks that do require access to Brisbane’s CBD, the most effective entry between November 14 and 16 will be from the south, via the Bradfield Highway and Story Bridge.

Information on specific road closures and declared motorcade routes can is available here.
