Fair Work Ombudsman will target trucking companies in regional Victoria to ensure they are complying with workplace laws

Regional Victorian trucking companies will be targeted as part of a campaign beginning today to ensure compliance with workplace laws.
The Fair Work Ombudsman has written to trucking companies alerting them of a random education and compliance campaign of up to 50 businesses.
Inspectors will audit records and pay slips to determine if employees are being paid their wages, penalty rates and allowances correctly.
Regions under the spotlight include Bendigo, Portland, Warrnambool, Mildura and Geelong. Inspectors will also visit operators in Ballarat, Horsham, Shepparton, Swan Hill and Wodonga. Another list will be drawn up next year for investigation.
Fair Work Ombudsman Executive Director Michael Campbell says the objective is to help employers understand workplace laws such as national employment standards and the award modernisation process.
