Heavy vehicle fleet maintenance and repair company TRUCK TECH has appointed international business growth expert Dr Jana Matthews as its Chief Growth and Development Officer.

Dr Matthews will take a “co-pilot” role alongside company founder and CEO Barry Saad, who has grown the business from its Chipping Norton base to be one of Australia’s premier fleet maintenance and repair providers.

TRUCK TECH has grown to contain three state-of-the-art fleet maintenance and repair centres and over 70 mobile fleet service units, and its 120 staff serviced over 12,000 heavy vehicles across 2024.

Dr Matthews recently stepped down from the position as ANZ Chair in Business Growth at the Australian Centre of Business Growth at UniSA, and has published eight books on the subject of business growth.

She has also studied at the University of London and Yale University, and holds a doctorate in Management and Planning from Harvard University.

With Australia’s road freight demand only set to increase in the coming years, Dr Matthews says TRUCK TECH is uniquely positioned to continue its current upwards trajectory.

“Having worked with over a thousand SMEs across Australia over the past decade, TRUCK TECH has one of the most exciting growth opportunities I have seen,” she says.

“Road freight traffic is expected to increase 77 per cent by 2050, with an increasing demand from large transport companies for quality fleet maintenance and repairs.

“TRUCK TECH has a visionary CEO who is laser-focused on customers, quality and safety, an enviable culture with great people, and a strategy focused executive team that knows how to execute.

“I am excited to be working with Barry and the team to build and grow TRUCK TECH into an Australian success story.”

TRUCK TECH’s recent growth has been capped off by BYD, the world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer, approving the company as a repairer of its commercial electric heavy vehicles.

Saad says the appointment of Dr Matthews to her new role is imperative in continuing the strong growth experienced in recent years.

“I have asked Dr Jana Matthews to be my ‘co-pilot’ and help me execute the company’s strategic plan, continue to recruit the right people, embed new systems, and maintain our world-class culture,” Saad says.

“She will be responsible for holding me and the management team accountable for achieving our ambitious growth goals and will lead key cross-functional projects that will accelerate our growth.

“As we continue to accelerate our growth, having a leader with Dr Jana’s knowledge and experience will be a huge advantage to TRUCK TECH.

“This is why we asked Dr J to join our executive leadership team in this very special role, and we are very excited that she has agreed to do so.”
