The latest truck sales data is in for June, with the newest numbers seeing a spike in mid-year sales despite still falling below last year’s levels. The June Truck Industry Council (TIC) T-Mark data recorded 4,172 sales made in June, seeing a spike compared to recent months but falling below the 4,888 sales made this time last year.
Total trucks
An improved June effort saw 4,172 sales made across all markets for the month, with Isuzu (921) continuing to lead the way. Hino settled into second spot with 455 sales, with Fuso claiming third with 320. Kenworth (249) narrowly beat Volvo (240) for fourth, while IVECO (194) fell just shy of the 200 mark. Mercedes-Benz was the next best with 143 monthly sales, while Scania (125) and UD Trucks (102) were the only other brands to reach triple figures. Below this mark, DAF (71) beat Mack (61), Fiat edged ahead of MAN – 44 vs 38 and Hyundai and LDV were tied on 29 apiece.
Heavy duty
An improved June for the heavy duty market saw 1,347 sales recorded for the month, with Kenworth (249) once again topping the leaderboard. Volvo finished a close second with 237 sales, with Isuzu claiming third through a round 150 sales. Scania (125) wasn’t too far behind, with Mercedes-Benz finishing on a perfect 100 to sit slightly ahead of UD Trucks (96).
Medium duty
There was a slight increase in numbers for the medium duty market in June, with 468 sales recorded. Isuzu was yet again the leader with 264 sales, well ahead of the next best in Fuso (100). From there, Hino had the 56 sales, IVECO the 12, Hyundai 10 and the final 34 sales were split between five brands.
Light duty
A consistent June effort for the light duty sector saw 1,256 sales made for the month as Isuzu continued to flex its muscles. The market leader notched 507 monthly sales, nearly doubling the second placed Hino (319). A clear gap was established before Fuso came in third with 156 sales, edging ahead of IVECO (137). An even larger gap came after this, with Fiat (44) coming in next ahead of Mercedes-Benz (35) and LDV (29).
Vans
A spike in the van market saw 1,101 sales recorded in June as Mercedes-Benz won a tense battle against LDV. The former finished with 301 sales for the month compared to the latter’s 277, with Ford (164) firming in third with 164 sales. Renault was next best with 138 sales, with Volkswagen (110) also finishing in front of Fiat (89) and IVECO (22).
