Truck crash leaves police scratching heads

Police still looking into what caused truck to roll over on Federal Highway, shutting down northbound lanes

Police are still looking into what caused a truck to roll over on the Federal Highway, spilling chemicals and shutting down northbound lanes.

The accident occurred at 5.50 this morning and a section of the highway near Bywong in New South Wales is still blocked.

Police officers have established diversions for traffic via Shingle Hill Road and the Old Federal Highway as they try to clear the mess and look for witnesses to shed light on the incident.

“The spill has been contained and the male truck driver is not injured. Inquiries into the circumstances leading up to the crash are still continuing,” a police statement says.

“Emergency services personnel from NSW and the ACT are on scene.”

Anyone with information can contact Queanbeyan Police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
