Well-known industry “icon” Bob Martin has announced his departure from his role as national training manager at JOST Australia.
Martin has spent the past 24 years working for the truck parts supplier, starting as the Brisbane branch manager in 2001 before moving up to national training manager in 2018.
With over three decades in the industry, Martin has amassed many achievements and seen a lot of changes within the transport industry and within JOST, with one of his greatest achievements being spearheading the JOST Brisbane move to its current Wacol facility.
Whilst employed at JOST, Martin was also a very active member of the then CVIAQ, which later became the HVIA that we know today. One of his claims to fame was to be the last ever CVIAQ president and the first inaugural HVIA president. During this time Bob was also involved on the judging panel of the Apprentice of the Year Awards.
Martin is now moving on to the next phase in his career, starting his own vehicle relocation business, Aussie Gear Shifters.
“My culmination at JOST coincides with the 25 Brisbane Truck Show. I have been treated like royalty over the weekend,” Martin says.
“Thank you to all at JOST, I won’t mention names for fear of forgetting someone, you all know who you are.
“The recognition I’ve received from the wider transport industry has been truly humbling, I have been blown away by the well wishes. Again, thanks to everyone involved in this amazing industry, it’s been an absolute blast!”
JOST Australia released a statement praising Martin for his time at the company, wishing him the best for the future.
“Whilst Bob has retired from JOST to spend time with his family and enjoy the great outdoors, he’ll ease into this,” the statement reads.
“Bob’s passion for the industry is still alive and well. You might see him on the road moving some equipment around amongst other things
“We at JOST wish Bob all the very best for wherever his future may take him and we look forward to continuing a strong and healthy relationship with this transport industry “icon” Guru Bob as we at JOST call him, because of his years of experiences and all-round knowledge.”
