TWU will ballot Transpacific workers on overtime and work bans as it pursues new enterprise agreement with the waste transporter
August 10, 2011
Employees of waste transporter Transpacific Industries will be asked if they support overtime and work bans as part of a union campaign to secure a new enterprise agreement.
Fair Work Australia yesterday granted the Transport Workers Union (TWU) the right to ballot workers.
Transpacific did not challenge the union’s claim that the ballot is part of a genuine attempt to reach a new nagreement.
Commissioner Michelle Bissett says the TWU has met its requirements under the Fair Work Act to stage the ballot.
Workers will be asked whether they support overtime and work bans and stoppages ranging from four hours to an indefinite period.
