Transit gets power upgrade

Ford will offer a new 2.2-litre diesel engine in the Transit range of commercial vehicles

December 6, 2011

As part of a quest to improve fuel economy and reduce exhaust emissions, Ford Australia will offer a new 2.2-litre diesel engine in the Transit range of commercial vehicles.

The new engine will enter service in Australia in January 2012 providing more power and torque than the 2.4-litre engine it replaces, as well as improved consumption and pollution figures.

With Transit available in both front and rear drive, the 2.2-litre TDCi motor will provide either 92kW/330N as a front-driver, or 114kW/385N in rear drive form.

Testing under the ADR 81/02 combined cycle fuel consumption regulation sees the Transit 280S version provide 7.2 litres per 100km, an improvement of 11 percent over the previous version.
