Toomey expands on Scania appointment

New Australia sales director reflects on path ahead

Scania Australia’s new sales director, Martin Toomey, now has his feet under the table and has commented on what is to come.

As flagged at a familiarisation event with new MD Mikael Jansson, Toomey’s position sees the head of sales as a standalone role for the first time in eight years.

Toomey has 17 years of industry experience, working for multinational component suppliers at General Manger level, both locally and across Asia.

“I am excited to be joining Scania at this stage in the company’s history,” he says.

“Over the past few years, Scania’s rise under Roger McCarthy’s leadership has been resolute and admirable.

“Scania is evolving its hardware and software products and services into a new paradigm, whereby we will increasingly play the role of an insightful business partner to our customers, offering them solutions tailored to their exact needs.

“We will be looking to bring many more customers to the Scania family, as well as to expand the scope of our offer to our existing customers, in order to facilitate their journey to greater profitability.

“Given the high degree of localisation we are able to add to specialist applications for customers, Scania Australia could become the global benchmark within the company for specialised and high productivity vehicle solutions.

“The lessons we learn in this market, given our arduous operating and far-reaching compliance environment, can benefit other markets in the Scania world.”
