Toll transports food to Cairns community centre

Toll's NQX division will help transport a tonne of food from Brisbane Foodbank to Cairns

Toll NQX has joined hands with social welfare group Anglicare to help transport a tonne of dry food each week by road and rail from the Brisbane Foodbank to a newly-opened community food store in Cairns.

The first leg of the transport move started in late march, ahead of the store’s opening, and “will continue on an ongoing basis”, the company says.

The new Helping Hand Community Food store is expected to help deliver basic food essentials including tinned fruit, vegetables, pasta and cereals to 200 people a day.

Toll NQX acting GM Ross Longmire says the business is proud to support the local communities.

“We are really pleased to help support people in our community in this way, transporting food is one of our strengths so we knew we could provide valuable support to this project,” Longmire says.

“We appreciate the role that Anglicare plays throughout Australia and look forward to working with them to help feed those in need.

“We thank Anglicare and their ongoing work to support local people who are doing it tough.”

Part of the Toll Group, Toll NQX specialises in daily business-to-business road and rail freight services in Queensland and the Northern Territory.
