Toll to build transport centre in the Pilbara

Toll will use Pilbara site in Western Australia as transport centre to service its Karratha operations

July 9, 2012

Toll has signed a deal with the Western Australian Government for a prime slice of real estate in the Pilbara that will be used to service its Karratha operations.

The government today announced it had sold a 15ha lot at LandCorp’s Gap Ridge industrial estate to Toll, which plans to build warehouses, workshops, offices and driver exchanges on the block of land.

Toll will employ about 40 local staff initially, but the company has plans to expand as other business services start operating out of the site.

“The location of the industrial land at Gap Ridge, close to the town centre and Karratha Airport, is proving to be an attractive and logical choice for businesses looking to locate in the Pilbara,” Regional Development and Lands Minister Brendon Grylls says.

“For Toll Group, the site provides a strategic development opportunity, due to its proximity to key markets in the resources sector.”

Engineering firm Monadelphous purchased a 6.9ha lot at the LandCorp estate earlier this year. The Western Australia Government says the 260ha estate near Karratha will yield 108 lots in eight stages.

Gap Ridge is located 9km west of Karratha next to the Dampier Highway.
