Toll Group upgrades Port of Brisbane facility

Toll has unveiled its larger Port of Brisbane space after recently securing a 10-year lease renewal at the site

Global transport and logistics company Toll Transport has extended its deal with the Port of Brisbane with a new 10-year lease renewal that sees it expand its facilities.

The renewal marks the completion of external refurbishments to its 4.18 ha Major Hazard Facility site at Port Gate.

The upgraded, delivered by PBPL and principal contractor Vaughan Constructions, includes large scale pavement remediation works, 5,000sqm of new container-rated hardstand, upgrades to fire services and lighting and a new staff lunchroom and facilities.

The renewal saw an additional 1,400sqm of land leased to Toll, with PBPL CEO Neil Stephens saying the ribbon-cutting marked a successful partnership between the Port and a long-time customer in Toll.

“It was essential to ensure Toll’s existing operations could continue during construction, which is why we worked closely with Toll and our principal contractor to develop a multi-staged works programme that meant no downtime was incurred,” Stephens says.

“The 10-year lease renewal ensures that Toll will continue to service its significant Queensland customer base from the Port of Brisbane for many years to come, with the additional hardstand providing new storage capacity to support its operations now and growth into the future.”

Works commenced in June 2023 and were completed in August 2024.

Port Gate is located adjacent to Fisherman Islands, close to the Port’s terminal facilities and on a central road corridor providing tenants with excellent transport efficiencies.

The Toll Transport operations at the Port of Brisbane is a Major Hazard Facility for the storage and distribution of dangerous goods and chemicals as well as logistics and supply chain operations.

“After extensive negotiations between Toll, our parent company Japan Post and Port of Brisbane, we’re excited for what the future holds for the site over the next 10 years,” Toll industrial general manager Justin Taylor says.

“These upgrades reflect our dedication to providing premium logistical services and maintaining the highest safety standards. We look forward to continuing to support our customers and the community with this enhanced facility.”
