Today’s the day to ask are you ok? In trucks and sheds

While every day is the right day to ask people R U OK? Healthy Heads in Trucks and Sheds and R U OK? have chosen today, May 6, as a National Day of Action for the road transport, warehousing and logistics industries.

The call is out for workplace teams to get together today and focus on the message – “Ask R U OK? – No qualifications needed”.

This year’s event marks the fourth time R U OK? in Trucks and Sheds has been held on May 6.

Healthy Heads CEO Naomi Frauenfelder says both organisations are focused on keeping mental health at the top of the agenda and encouraging staff to look out for each other.

“The campaign and resources provide people in our sector with the tools and confidence to spot the signs a workmate might be struggling, and to ask their workmates how they really are,” Naomi says.

R U OK? CEO Katherine Newton says its about everyone doing their bit to help those in need.

“In industries where isolation can be part of the job, a simple ‘R U OK?’ can mean more than you realise.” Katherine says.

“When you reach out, you’re helping to build a culture where it’s OK to talk about the hard stuff.

“Thank you to everyone in the transport, warehousing, and logistics industries who is taking action to support their colleagues – your genuine care is changing, and even saving, lives.”
