TasPorts has appointed a new chair and three new non-executive directors to its board as it ramps up delivery of major infrastructure projects critical to Tasmania’s economic growth.
Seasoned company director and financial consultant Greg McCann has been appointed as chair of the TasPorts board, bringing decades of experience in corporate governance, having previously served as chair of NBN Tasmania and director of the Tasmanian Development Board.
His appointment comes at what he describes as a pivotal time for the organisation.
“TasPorts plays a foundational role in ensuring Tasmania remains connected to national and international markets,” McCann says.
“I look forward to working with my fellow Board members and the broader organisation to support continued delivery, strengthen relationships with stakeholders, and help shape a positive future for the business and for the State.”
Joining McCann will be three new directors: Evelyn Horton, Wayne Porritt, and Zorana Bull.
Horton brings strong credentials in investment banking and economic policy, while Porritt adds expertise in global finance and commodities. Bull contributes extensive infrastructure and engineering experience, alongside board-level leadership across the transport and logistics sectors.
The appointments follow a nationwide recruitment process that attracted close to 200 high-calibre candidates. Infrastructure minister Kerry Vincent says the strong response highlighted confidence in TasPorts’ mission and future.
“The level of interest reflects a strong belief in the purpose and potential of TasPorts, and in the important contribution it makes to Tasmania’s economy,” Vincent says.
“Together, these appointments deliver an outstanding mix of experience across infrastructure, finance, strategic governance and international leadership.
“The Tasmanian Government is confident TasPorts is now well placed to deliver on its role as a key economic enabler for our State, supporting jobs, trade, and regional connectivity through a modern, resilient ports network.”
The new directors join the board following the December 2024 appointments of former Fremantle Ports CEO Chris Leatt-Hayter and sustainability and governance expert Jules Scarlett.
Vincent also paid tribute to outgoing Director Amara Doyle, who departs after nearly four years on the board, including six months as interim chair.
“Amara has provided stability and strong leadership during a time of transition. I thank her for her service to TasPorts and Tasmania,” Vincent says.
The appointments mark a new chapter for TasPorts as it continues to support trade, jobs, and regional growth through its state-wide port network.
