Traffic diversions in place on the Bruce Highway in north Queensland after tanker catches fire

Queensland Police has warned motorists of significant delays on the Bruce Highway in north Queensland after a tanker caught fire this morning.
Police have put in place traffic diversion near Maryborough. Southbound traffic is being diverted from Childers to Maryborough via Biggenden.
Northbound traffic is being diverted through to Maryborough and motorists are advised to travel via Takura and Torbanlea to get back onto the Bruce Highway.
Police are urging motorists to seek alternate routes if they intend to travel through the area. Queensland Police expects the route to reopen by 6pm. However, the section of road is likely to be down to one lane tomorrow morning for salvage work to be completed.
A statement from Queensland Police says the incident happened about 3km north of Maryborough.
Meanwhile, a woman has died in New South Wales after being hit by a truck.
She was driving on the Hume Highway near Goldenvale Road at Sutton Forest shortly before 4pm on Sunday when she stopped and got out of her vehicle.
The woman was then hit by a northbound truck.
