Volvo and Scania in AdBlue suppression warning

Two truck-making groups with strong environmental credentials have endorsed publically Truck Industry Council efforts against AdBlue suppression devices.

The Council, which represents original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), wants to block the import of the devices that alter the amount of the diesel exhaust fluid that enters the exhaust process to neutralise nitrogen oxide (NOx).

Vehicle makers voice worry on B20 diesel blend

Shell's announcement by it is now selling a B20 blend of diesel in Victoria has caused concerns among vehicle manufacturers, with many not permitting greater than B5 concentrations.

The concerns centre on the different properties of biodiesel, which can degrade the rubber components in fuel systems, compared with mineral diesel, as well as the possibility of increased AdBlue consumption by engines fitted with SCR (selective catalyst reduction) emission control systems.
