There are currently a whole host of road tunnel projects underway that will ease congestion and quicken transport times across Australia.
With tunnel boring now commenced on Victoria’s North East Link and South Australia’s North South Corridor, the face of Australian road transport is set to shift in the coming years. Now, Austroads is hosting an international workshop aimed at ensuring road tunnels remain as well-equipped and cared for as possible.
The international Lifecycle Interventions to Lift Road Tunnel Sustainability will be held on Thursday, September 26 in Sydney and will be conducted in collaboration with PIARC, the World Road Association, and Transport for NSW.
The event will bring together international experts in road tunnel operations, maintenance and project delivery, and will contain keynote presentations, panel discussions and networking sessions.
President of Underground Works Chambers Arnold Dix, who is affectionately known to some as ‘Tunnel Guy’, will deliver the keynote address and a panel of experts that will explore the balance between best practice and appropriate practice in tunnel maintenance.
