August 12, 2011

Police are urging motorists to expect major road closures in Sydney’s CBD and eastern suburbs this weekend due to the annual City2Surf event.

The fun run, which 85,000 people have registered for, stretches from the city to Bondi Beach and will take place on Sunday, August 14 from 7:55am.

Participants will be running along a number of local roads and through suburbs. NSW Police says roads in the CBD will begin closing from 4:30am on August 14 and remain closed until 12pm.

The City2Surf route will be shut to all traffic from 7am, with police saying all roads will be reopened by 4pm.

Motorists are also being urged to observe special event clearways. NSW Police says extra resources will be deployed during the event to ensure the safety of City2Surf participants.

Live traffic updates will be posted online.
