The current Transurban CEO has been announced in a major switch within the transport industry
In a major shake-up, Sydney Airport’s board of directors has announced its latest CEO following the news that current CEO Geoff Culbert will resign later this year.
Scott Charlton will take over the role from December 1 this year and comes directly from the role of CEO at toll road operator Transurban.
Charlton brings a wealth of experience to the Sydney Airport role following his background in infrastructure, transport and property.
He has served as Transurban CEO since 2012.
“We’re delighted to welcome Scott as our new CEO,” Sydney Airport chair David Gonski says.
“Scott brings strong commercial, operational and project delivery experience, along with a deep understanding of government and the Australian regulatory environment.
“He also shares the board’s vision for the ongoing development of Sydney Airport as a world-class airport and one that Sydneysiders can be proud of.”
Gonski says the next few years will herald an exciting period of transformation in the Australian aviation industry, with the board looking forward to working with Charlton throughout the next term.
“Sydney Airport is, in my view, the gateway to Australia, the economic heart of NSW and an iconic global infrastructure asset,” Charlton says.
“I’m excited and privileged to be given the opportunity to lead some of the most capable and passionate people in aviation, and I look forward to working with the team to continue serving and enhancing the experiences of customers, airlines, partners and the local and wider community.”
Culbert will continue as CEO until Charlton commences the role in December.
