Organisers of a sustainable supply chain forum later this month say the theory is quickly becoming practice in Australian business.
The challenges presented by climate change are coupled with a growing shift in consumer and stakeholder sentiment for Australian organisations to be socially and environmentally responsible, they say.
The Sustainable Supply Chain Forum is a one-day seminar in Melbourne, co-sponsored by SupplyChain Review offering supply chain and manufacturing professionals an in-depth guide to implementing and managing sustainability in the logistics network.
Speakers from Westpac, AMCOR, ETIKO, Pacific Brands, Hume City Council and Target will present case studies on how they integrated social and environmental practices in the supply chain.
The event promises to provide a ‘how to’ on reducing costs and improving efficiency, creating competitive advantage through a supply chain, make sustainable purchasing ‘business as usual’, develop an ethical purchasing strategy, reduce supply chain greenhouse gas emissions and become a supplier of choice.
“Businesses recognise that sustainable initiatives not only support corporate values but play a critical role in gaining competitive advantage whilst also improving overall operations and reducing costs,” organisers say.
The event is on Wednesday, February 25 at the Mercure Hotel in Melbourne. Further information is available from Cheryl Samarasinghe on (02) 9555 2358, or via the event website.
