As hydro excavation for non-destructive digging continues to experience growth alongside urbanisation in Australia, heavy-duty truck solutions specialists like STG Global have seen a rise in demand for vacuum excavator trucks.
Non-destructive digging uses high-pressure water and powerful vacuum enable the user to break up and remove soil, creating a slurry that’s vacuumed into a tank. It involves a flange type Power Take Off (PTO) which connects to a 267L/min jetter pump via custom made driveshaft that operates once the truck is stationary.
Along with precision and versatility, utilities and construction companies require robust and powerful trucks fitted with the right components, which is why STG Global says 90 per cent of its customer fleet solutions come with an Allison Transmission.
STG national sales and product manager of vacuum truck division Adam Powell recently delivered a brand-new Hino 700 FS 320HP fitted with an Allison 3200 Seriesä transmission to All Vac Worx, a subsidiary of McDirtworx, a trusted civil contractor in Port Macquarie.
“We’re selling a record number of these equipped vehicles at present, and this is the first one we’ve sold to All Vac Worx,” he says.
“We knew this was going to meet and exceed expectations as we’ve been specifying the Allisons in a range of Japanese OEMs for a while now, and they truly perform under the pressure of the task.
“The Allison has a proven track record of reliability and performance, offers great national support for programmability of transmission behaviours and service, plentiful amount of PTO fitment options for varying applications and wiring to interface the PTO to the transmission is a simple process.
“For All Vac Worx – who are doing a lot of high-pressure curb side clean out – we knew the Allison would be ideal to support the heavy-duty cycle work carried out.
“We’re witnessing more companies are adopting more hydro excavation due to the benefits of it being a more sustainable and better operating environment for underground mining. What all these sectors have in common is that they are busy and need tough equipment with components that are easy to service and can handle the hard work.”
In addition to the growing market of vacuum excavator trucks, STG is also regularly specifying Allison 3000 Seriesä and 4000 Seriesä transmissions across its other product lines, including: hook lifts, front loaders, side loaders, water carts, tilt trays and service/Diesel module trucks.
