Department of International Trade Promotion director-general Mrs. Chantira Jimreivat Vivatrat presents the Excellent Logistics Management Awards

Thailand’s Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) within its Ministry of Commerce has recognised two companies for their world-class logistics management practices.

DITP director-general Mrs. Chantira Jimreivat Vivatrat presented the Excellent Logistics Management Award (ELMA) 2018 to both the ThaiSomdej Service Company Limited and Krungdhep Document Company Limited at the Thailand International Logistics Fair (TILOG-LOGISTIX 2018).

ThaiSomdej won the award for its Customs Brokerage Services and Krungdhep Document Company won for its Warehousing Services operations.

Normally the ELMA 2018 is categorised into four categories, which are Transportation Services; Warehousing Services; International Freight Forwarding or Customs Brokerage Services and Third Party Logistics Services.

For 2018, the committee agreed to grant the awards to two categories.

“This is the 12th consecutive year that ELMA has been held to select Thai Logistics Service Providers with outstanding logistics management and services,” Mrs Chantira says.

“In addition, ELMA can be set as an indicator to benchmark their excellent operational performance among logistics companies which can also be a reliable reference for their local and overseas business counterparts.”

“Before announcing each award winner, all candidates’ performance was thoroughly assessed based on the comprehensive judging criteria by qualified assessment committee.

“We believe that ELMA is also one of the measurements that encourages Logistics Service Providers to develop their logistics management to become more effective.

“Moreover, ELMA candidates will be able to apply feedback and recommendations from a group of committee to improve their competitive advantage in the future.

“In accordance with DITP’s strategic goals, we also focus on encouraging Thai entrepreneurs to continuously improve their logistics management capabilities to be accepted internationally,” Mrs Chantira says.

Mr. Visarn Chansate, Managing Director of ThaiSomdej Service Company Limited

ThaiSomdej Service company managing director Visarn Chansate, who has 48 years experience as a Customs Brokerage Service Provider says his company has been participating as a contestant in ELMA since 2015.

“For the past three years, we have received valuable advices from each year’s assessment committee and learned about our strengths and weaknesses that have helped us improve and eventually won ELMA 2018 in Customs Brokerage Services,” he says.

“By applying Intelligent Customs Clearance Technology (ICCT), the system which is developed in-house, we have managed to resolve complicated customs documentation problems and reduce cost for both our company and our customers, especially our E-Commerce customers who have many products that require complicated customs documents.

“In addition, our company has also developed Artificial Intelligence (AI) to increase operational efficiency. ThaiSomdej Service is also the first company who has designed a system that requires no data entry by human.

“Instead our technology allows us to connect our system directly with our customers’ systems which can then provide direct access to our customers’ data resulting in rapid responses to our customer needs,” Mr Visarn says.

Mr. Suparp Tungtriratanakul, Director and Managing Director of Krungdhep Document Company Limited

Krungdhep Document Company director and managing director Mr Suparp Tungtriratanakul – a professional service provider for Document and Information Storage and Management – said that this was the first year the company had applied for the awards.

“We learned from constructive feedback and valuable recommendations throughout the assessment process,” he says.

“Hence, we were able to improve our warehouse efficiency and reduce costs. I think these are the main reasons why we have won this year’s award.

“Also, with the majority of our customers being in financial sector we highly value the importance of keeping our customers’ data and documents safe and secure. We also emphasise on customised services which help satisfy customers’ needs and solve their problems effectively.

“Moreover, we have also added Livelink Enterprise System, Document and Electronic File Hosting service, and Solution Design Services to be able to respond to the needs of both our existing and new customers,” he says.
