Speedy Freight has received special recognition globally for its environmental freight focus
International same day courier service Speedy Freight has announced that it has partnered with Carbon Neutral Britain to measure and offset carbon emissions.
This has resulted in the freight courier achieving certified carbon neutral status as a business.
Speedy Freight is now offsetting its carbon emissions through internationally certified carbon offsetting projects courtesy of the Carbon Neutral Britain Climate Fund, with these projects being selected based on their impact around the world.
“We’re delighted to announce we’re now a certified carbon neutral business,” Speedy Freight HSQE manager Shaun Sidley says.
“Speedy Freight recognises the importance of environmental protection and is committed to operating responsibly.”
This certification has been measured through the three largest and most regulated offsetting standards in the world, including the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), the Gold Standard Voluntary Emission Reductions (VER) and Certified Emission Reductions (CER) programs.
The certification was calculated using the ISO 14064 and GHG Protocol Emissions Standard principles of relevance, completeness, consistency, transparency and accuracy.
It’s just the latest step for Speedy Freight, who has already moved to reduce the operations environment impact it is having.
In April this year, Speedy Freight launched a Routes Planting Roots campaign in partnership with the Earth Restoration Service, funding wildflower meadows and tree nurseries at more than 30 local schools near branches.
Next month, it’ll aid in a planting event across the UK.
“We’re constantly endeavouring to optimise our operational efficiency, to help reduce energy consumption emissions and waste through technical improvements and the implementation of better working practices,” Sidley says.
