Speed limit restrictions on Southern Expressway

Road works force drop in speed limit, and South Australia Police says it will be monitoring traffic for speeding offences

February 14, 2013

Speed limit restrictions are in force on the Southern Expressway in South Australia due to road duplication works.

South Australia Police is monitoring speed at the work sites and is calling on drivers to take care.

“Reduced speed restrictions are in place due to the dangers created by road works,” it says.

“Even if workers are not present at road work sites where speed limit restrictions still apply, police will still monitor traffic for speeding offences if there is a risk of serious injury to any person present.”

The $407.5 million duplication is a key part of the development of Adelaide’s north-south corridor, which when complete will deliver an 18.5km multi-lane and a two-way expressway between Bedford Park and Old Noarlunga by the middle of next year.
