The Australian Logistics Council (ALC) Forum 2012 is coming up, with key speakers set to address the two-day conference.
Held in Sydney between March 28 and 30, the annual conference will see the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Anthony Albanese address the opening.
Toll Managing Director Brian Kruger will talk about positioning Australia in the global supply chain, followed by National Transport Commission CEO Nick Dimopoulos who will speak about national transport reform.
ALC Chairman Don Telford says an efficient freight logistics industry is one of the “cornerstones of a progressive and modern economy”.
“Nowhere is this more critical than in Australia which is a long way from many of its major trading partners and has vast distances separating its major cities,” Telford says.
“It is within this context that Australia’s freight logistics industry must improve its efficiency to meet a rising freight task, improve its competitiveness in the global supply chain and increase productivity levels which have effectively flatlined over recent years.”
Albanese says the government is determined to ensure there are right regulatory settings and infrastructure in place to meet the increasing freight task.
“It’s a focused shared by the Australian Logistics Council – a body which is both national and cross-modal in focus,” Albanese says.
“ALC’s two-day forum has grown in prominence in recent years to become a critical platform for the industry’s most respected and influential leaders to discuss and debate the top priorities and issues facing the industry.”
