Transport and logistics companies operating in the south-east Queensland and Northern NSW regions are shutting up shop ahead of Tropical Cyclone Alfred’s landfall, with a range of temporary depot closures being enacted across the sector
Centurion has closed its Rocklea, Redbank and Wacol depots for Thursday 6 March and Friday 7 March and is anticipating the acceptance of deliveries to ramp back up on Monday 10 March.
Direct Freight Express is continuing operations on Thursday but has announced it will cease services on Friday at its Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Gympie, Hervey Bay and Ballina depots until Monday.
Allied Express has closed its Brisbane depot from midday AEST Thursday, and it will remain closed all day on Friday and says it “will implement a delivery plan to ensure all operations are caught up as quickly as possible” once it reopens.
Followmont Transport has closed its Brisbane, North Coast (Sunshine Coast), Toowoomba and Warwick depots from Thursday at midday and has not publicly offered a reopening date, instead telling customers the depots “will resume operations as soon as it is safe to do so”.
Team Global Express announced it has temporarily ceased operations in its Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Listmore regions, with all depots closed being monitored.
Aramex Australia has closed its Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Northern Rivers depots and will not be receiving pickups or deliveries on Thursday or Friday.
Australia Post paused all network operations in south-east Queensland and parts of northern NSW from midnight on Wednesday 5 March, with post offices closing from Thursday 6 March in the affected regions.
CouriersPlease has temporarily closed operational facilities on the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Salisbury and Coffs Habour on Thursday, with “effects anticipated through Friday and Saturday”.
Major container terminals at Port of Brisbane have also suspended operations with vessel movements halted by Maritime Safety Queensland.
Queensland Rail has also halted all south-east Queensland trains and closed all stations due to the cyclone.
Linfox has committed to “delivering food and other goods for our customers in a timely and safe manner in the wake of Tropical Cyclone Alfred”.
ACFS Port Logistics ceased warehousing operations and FCL deliveries at the end of Wednesday’s dayshift and closed its empty container parks at midday Thursday.
