SmartBar lowers weight penalty for added protection

Manufacturer SmartBar is offering a new version of its lightweight bullbars to owners of current model Toyota Hiace vans

August 30, 2011

Bullbar manufacturer SmartBar is offering a new version of its lightweight bullbars to owners of current model Toyota Hiace vans, coinciding with the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety.

The South Australian-based company specialises in the manufacture of polymer bullbars, helping to compensate for tare weight additions from passengers.

Comparative measurements show the SmartBar is up to 56kg lighter than equivalent steel or alloy bars, which can either reduce the overall weight of the vehicle, or allow extra payload to be carried.

The reduced front axle loading can also help to prolong the life of steering and suspension components, while brake wear can also be reduced.

Other versions of the SmartBar are already fitted to police and emergency service vehicles throughout Australia.

Designed with a hollow internal structure to absorb impact, SmartBar reduces the risk of engine immobilisation and the chance of being stranded in remote locations in the event of an animal strike or vehicle accident.

Available in black or white, the new SmartBar model is tailored to suit the Hiace and is easily fitted without the need for suspension upgrades.

SmartBar is airbag compatible and made from environmentally-friendly recyclable polyethylene that is ultra-violet stabilised for durability.

It is supplied with one aerial mount as standard and location for a second optional aerial mount, as well as LED Parker/Indicator lights and spot light accessory brackets which will suit the following lights: Hella Rallye Compact 4000 / Comet 450, Light Force 170 and IPF 800.
