Side airbag issue surfaces for VW Caddy

Recall affects 119 vehicles supplied September 1-April 26

Owners of the latest model Caddy light commercial vehicles can expect a call from manufacturer Volkswagen about side airbags, if they don’t make their own calls first.

The potential fault affects vans supplied between September 1 and April 26, the recall notice.

“On Caddy vehicles of a limited production period, the front backrest padding may have been fitted incorrectly,” the notice reads.

“In the event of a collision, the side airbags may not adequately deploy.

The front side airbags may not provide the vehicle occupants with adequate protection and increase the risk of injury in the event of an accident.”
