Shipping eCommerce platform launches AI freight solution

Shippit has unveiled the latest growth stage of its AI-powered freight solution that is set to make deliveries easier

Australian-based eCommerce platform Shippit has this week unveiled a new AI-powered solution that sees the company move into complex delivery orchestration.

Shippit, who already powers hundreds of millions of orders for more than 4,000 retailers, has launched NowGo by Shippit to create a powerful last-mile delivery orchestration solution for businesses that run complex and time-sensitive delivery operations and services.

The launch comes as businesses that operate private or contracted fleets face increasing challenges, such as rising costs, driver shortages and escalating competitive pressures and tighter regulations.

Shippit says NowGo by Shippit customers have improved fleet efficiency by 12 per cent and fleet utilisation by 15 per cent, and reduced fuel consumption, driver downtime and the number of KMs delivery vehicles spend on roads.

The solution, which has been built on an AI-first foundation following Shippit’s acquisition of Premonition in 2022, is powered by a proprietary algorithm developed by Australian engineers. This capability sets NowGo by Shippit apart as the only Australian-based last-mile orchestration solution that does not rely on common third party route optimisation services.

Already powering category-leading brands like Reece, Mitre 10, Healius Pathology and News Corp, NowGo by Shippit is ideally suited for businesses with complex, specialised and highly regulated delivery needs such as trade supply, furniture retailers, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, and food and beverages.

Shippit says NowGo by Shippit is built for scale and has proven to increase the reliability of delivery operations substantially, even in the toughest last-mile conditions. With the increased frequency of natural disasters, fluctuations in consumer demand and constantly changing traffic conditions, NowGo by Shippit adapts to unplanned events in real-time, building resilience and ensuring businesses can deliver reliably regardless of the conditions.

While NowGo by Shippit is already powering over 30 million annual deliveries nationwide and is used by thousands of drivers every day, the launch signals the next stage of growth for Shippit as it seeks to drive the next stage of innovation in the local commerce space and help both B2B and B2C customers turn delivery into a growth engine rather than a cost centre.

“The last mile has never been more competitive or had a greater impact on business’ bottom line than today,” Shippit co-founder and joint CEO Rob Hango-Zada says.

“While retailers have embraced outsourced carrier delivery, there’s a vast market for last mile delivery run by in-house operated fleets.

“Incumbent solutions offer basic routing but don’t flex with the needs of a business’ workflow and can’t handle specialised and unique requirements; from time- and temperature-sensitive pathology samples to time-critical materials for a construction project.

“Today is the culmination of a long-established vision, and years of innovation, research and development since we acquired Premonition in 2022. Over the ensuing years, our Australian-based AI engineers have built something that we’re very proud to launch to market.

“NowGo by Shippit. It’s an incredibly important milestone for Shippit and initiates the next stage of our growth and broader strategy to dominate the local commerce space. As eCommerce reaches an inflection point, delivery networks are becoming denser and more localised – with delivery zones closer to stores and distribution centres.

“It’s in this last-mile space that we see a significant opportunity to use our advanced orchestration technology to improve the speed, reliability, and flexibility of deliveries, and enable fleets to become a growth engine rather than a cost–centre.”
