Logistics company and 4PL services freight brokerage Sheer Logistics has announced the acquisition of Atlanta-based 3PL provider CargoBarn.
Sheer Logistics is a TMS technology and Integration Platform as a Service (IPaaS) solutions business, with the acquisition of the 3PL compny allowing it to enhance its existing freight brokerage offerings.
CargoBarn provides full Truckload freight brokerage, with the acquisition improving Sheer’s existing 3PL capabilities through the addition of CargoBarn’s diverse and complementary customer portfolio, extensive carrier network and geographic footprint.
Sheer Logistics CEO Joel Gard says the acquisition allows Sheer Logistics to bolster its core 4PL offering, with the new entity operating under the Sheer Logistics brand.
“CargoBarn has distinguished itself in a crowded logistics market through its unwavering focus on providing shippers with seamless and worry-free transportation services,” Gard says.
“I am excited to welcome CargoBarn to the Sheer Logistics team. Together, we will deliver enhanced 3PL and 4PL/Managed Transportation services that will help our customers tackle their most complex logistics challenges and enable their continued success.”
CargoBarn was founded by logistics industry veteran Cameron Baird in Fresno, California in 2007, before quickly growing to add offices in Atlanta, Dallas and Jacksonville.
CargoBarn was recognised as the second fastest growing logistics and transport business in the US in 2012 Inc. magazine 500|5000.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the organisation we built at CargoBarn,” Baird says.
“By combining with Sheer Logistics, we can offer our customers, carriers and employees a more diversified portfolio of services and more opportunities for growth.
“I’m passing the torch to Joel as CEO of the combined organisation with confidence that our shared values and complementary business models will foster the next exciting chapter in the CargoBarn story.”
